Funding Grant for Schoolhouse Display on Josephite Education
The Hon John Hill MP, Minister assisting the Premier in the Arts, has advised that the Centre's application for funding from the Museums Accreditation and Grants Program has been approved. The project is Stage 2 of the exhibition 'Josephite Education - These are the Children I Love' in the Schoolhouse. The grant is for $15,000 to develop the concept plans and graphic design of exhibition panels. Last year Stage 1 was funded from the same program with $9,800. This enabled the employment of Peter Templeton, Designer, who consulted with the Committee and provided the concept plans and designs. Committee member, Margaret Muller, researched and wrote the text for the panels with assistance from other members and Sisters of Saint Joseph.
Mr Hill stated "The community history movement has a vital role to play in preserving and interpreting the history of this State. I thank you for your continuing work". Work will now proceed and it is planned to open the exhibiton in 2009, the year which will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the death of Blessed Mary MacKillop.
